Anna wakes up feeling terrible. Her head hurts, and her body feels weak. Her throat is very sore when she swallows. She feels hot and cold at the same time. "Mom," she calls out weakly, "I think I am sick." Mom comes in and feels Anna's forehead with her hand. "Oh dear, yes, you have a high fever," Mom says gently. "There is no school for you today."
Anna stays in her warm, soft bed all day. She sleeps for many hours to rest. Mom takes care of her and brings her hot chicken soup and herbal tea. The family cat comes and sleeps on the bed with her to keep her company. By the afternoon, the fever goes down, and she feels a little better. She sits up and watches her favorite cartoons on TV.
