Celebration
Today is a special day because it is Mom's birthday. Dad and Lucy want to surprise her by making a delicious cake. They go to the grocery store together. They buy a bag of white flour, sweet sugar, fresh eggs, and a carton of milk. They also buy a bar of dark chocolate to melt.
Back at home, they put on aprons and mix everything in a big blue bowl. They pour the batter into a pan and put the cake in the hot oven. Soon, the kitchen smells very good. When it is cool, Dad spreads chocolate frosting on the cake. Lucy carefully places candles on top. "Happy Birthday, Mom!" they sing loudly when she walks in. Mom is very happy and surprised. The cake tastes absolutely delicious.
