Introduction

1. Definition & Core Meaning

A tiny baby bird sits in a cozy nest. The nest is high up in the branches of a big oak tree. The mother bird flies back to the nest. She brings a juicy worm in her beak. The baby bird chirps loudly because he is very hungry. He opens his mouth wide and eats the worm quickly.

"It is time to try to fly," says the Mother bird to her baby. The baby bird is brave and stands up on the edge of the nest. He flaps his small wings up and down. He takes a big jump into the air! He falls a little bit at first, but then... flap, flap, flap! He catches the wind. He is flying! He flies safely to the next branch and lands. He is growing up.
