• Newspaper Headlines: To describe recent past events (e.g., "Police arrest suspect")
• Narrative Present: To make stories feel more immediate and dramatic (e.g., "He opens the door and sees the ghost")
• Performative Verbs: (I promise, I suggest, I refuse) where the action is performed by speaking.
