Pre-Intermediate Listening
Listen to a hotel guest complaining to the receptionist about their room.
Receptionist: Good morning, sir. How can I help you?
Guest: Good morning. I'm afraid I have a few complaints about my room, number 314.
Receptionist: Oh, I'm very sorry to hear that. What seems to be the problem?
Guest: Well, first of all, the air conditioning isn't working. It was freezing all night and I couldn't sleep.
Receptionist: I apologize for that. I'll send a maintenance worker up right away.
Guest: That's not all. There are no clean towels in the bathroom, and the television remote is missing.
Receptionist: That is completely unacceptable. I will have housekeeping bring fresh towels immediately and find you a new remote.
Guest: Thank you. Also, the breakfast buffet was supposed to start at 7:00 AM, but when I went down at 7:15, the doors were still locked.
Receptionist: We had a small issue in the kitchen this morning, so breakfast was delayed by thirty minutes. I am so sorry for the inconvenience. To make up for it, I'd like to offer you a free dinner in our restaurant tonight.
Guest: Well... alright. Thank you. That would be nice. I appreciate your help.
