Intermediate Listening
Listen to David, a freelance graphic designer, describing his typical workday.
(Note: Audio for Exercise 3 is pending generation.)
David: As a freelance graphic designer, my days are never exactly the same, but I try to keep a solid routine. I usually wake up around 6:30 AM and go for a quick run. It helps clear my head before I look at a screen. By 8:00 AM, I'm at my desk with a large cup of coffee. The first thing I do is check my emails and organize my tasks for the day. I prefer to do my hardest creative work in the morning, so from 9:00 until noon, I focus on designing logos or laying out website concepts for my clients.
I take a strict one-hour lunch break at 12:30. I never eat at my desk; I usually sit in the garden or read a book. In the afternoon, around 1:30, I handle administrative tasks. This includes sending invoices, updating my portfolio, or having Zoom calls with new clients to discuss their design needs. By 4:00 PM, my creative energy is usually gone. I spend the last hour of my day backing up my files and writing tomorrow's to-do list. I always switch off my computer at 5:00 PM sharp to ensure I maintain a healthy work-life balance.
